There's a new powerful voice in reggae music quickly taking over, by the name of Ras Kana. Born in 1989, Kana’s name reflects his respect for his Polynesian heritage.Ras Kana is a dynamic artist, whose silky voice can both ride an acoustic guitar with natural Hawaiian ease, or burn Babylon on a bubbling roots riddim. He describes his overall message as being "Jah love is over all", which is evident in the content of his tunes like "Serious Times", "Fyah Haffi Burn", and "Set Them Straight". When it comes to devotion and faith, Kana exclaims that, "the Most High is at the center of who I am and guides me to become the person I know I am supposed to be. Without Jah, I wouldn't be playing or singing."

Kana is not a newcomer to music, in fact he has been singing his entire life. His dynamic range and versatility have lead to “Standing Strong", a mixtape relase with Uprise Records, a hit underground debut EP entitled “Jah Love” (2006_I Life/Uprise), and strong collaborations with Humbolt California’s Jah Sun, hip-hop artist Ancient Mind, as well as reggae artists Jah Elect, and Badda Skat. Having opened for other world renowned reggae acts such as Tribal Style, Scholar's Word, Jah Roots, Kardinal Offishall and Gyptian, Kana's live performance is an experience not to be missed. Kana has already accumulated a track record of massive shows on the east coast, and the music continues to gain international acclaim, as it grows worldwide.

So what can we expect in the future from such an enthusiastic and promising artist? "Expect big things , with Jah's guidance and protection”, says Kana. With another forthcoming EP and an east cost tour slated for 2010 we can safely say things are just starting to simmer for this artist.
