Artist Bio / Album Info

The story of Aloha Radio starts way before Aloha Radio was even an idea. I started getting into music and surfing when I was 14 years old. I started finding a lot of “underground” music and artists that inspired me to become a musician. I also joined my school’s surf team the same year. I never thought 6 years ago that I would be in a surf band, yet I started surfing and playing music at the same time. It’s weird how things fall into place later in life.

I remember thinking I was crazy because I would skip out on my friends and parties to lock myself in my room and write songs. It wasn’t until I met Alex Barnett, guitar player for Aloha Radio, that I realized that what I thought wasn’t crazy, but just an incredible love of music. I met Alex when I went to his studio to record my first album. I knew right away that Alex and I would be working together for a long time. While working on our first album we began to discover that not only did we share a love of music, but also amazing creative chemistry. A couple years later we started work on a second full band album. Alex and I became really close and from then on we focused on playing music and getting our music heard. We were so determined, I started a home school program my senior year so that we could tour. We booked 5 tours ourselves, 3 were full US tours. We drove Alex’s Scion XB across the country and played bars, coffee shops, sidewalks, venues, book stores and everything in between.

We started playing with our bassist, Captin and our drummer, Chris Hori, a year and a half ago. Alex knew Chris from a previous band they played in together and Chris asked Captin to come to a jam and fill in for some shows. We got along really well and the guys decided to play with Alex and I in our old band which was pretty much a solo rock/pop/country project.

Recently there's a lot of talk that MySpace doesn't work for bands anymore and that all the action is on Facebook and Twitter but, I disagree. Mark Eddinger, who has become our mentor, producer and advisor, found us on Myspace. Mark has always enjoyed developing new artists and always has his ears open for something fresh and exciting. After checking out the tracks on my MySpace, Mark messaged me and asked me to email a collection of current tracks. After sending Mark a collection of songs he asked me to call him because he wanted to discuss some ideas.
